OMG a proxy that actually works for blogger. OMG OMG see i cannot access blogger from my laptop for some reason. BUT NOW I CAN hahahahahah! Well.. Today's been a weird day. After an awesome weekend (well I thought was awesome since Anderson street finished and I got to stay in and do work) today just sucked. I'm catching up on Maths as this week's like revision and stuff so I should be alright for exams. I can't believe I did not know my cousin was going out with this guy and everyone did. *wide eyes* In case you don't know which one i'm talking about, its the one which my poem is based on
The school musical
Saturday, May 17, 2008
And its finally over! I won't go into details of the story line because frankly, I don't know what its about. I've sat through 6 full rehearsals and yet i don't have a clue. I almost fell asleep during act 2 and nearly missed the entry to a musical number. But who cares. Its OVER! and the theme song anderson street will be playing over and over again in my head for the next few days. But thats a consequence we all have to bear. (for the curtain call we played the first 14 bars of Anderson Street looped and ended up repeating it 7-8 times) "anderson street anderson street ....." >< Exams are in a week. Time to study.. ugh.
Intermezzo
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Decided I'd do a little post in between my hectic schedule and the day to day insanity I go through. Anderson street starts tomorrow. Anderson street is the school's annual musical. Last year we did Cabaret which was awesome but this year we're doing a musical written by our very own Joachim Matchoss, and he commissioned two songwriters in England to write the music. Also, exam starts in 2 weeks. Which translates into panic mode for a lot of us, because like all students, we are unprepared and will leave everything to the last minute. Oh and btw I lost my mobile phone today. I was at a Health Sciences careers breakfast (I am definately doing medicine.. I have been convinced, it sounds really fun) and I put my phone in my blazer pocket which I put on my chair and I think it slipped out. How convenient. Anyway, one of the speakers, Jonathan Kam who is a 5th year med student, was arrogant yet funny in a way : "I can't wait to get the title Dr. it sounds........ niice..." and who can forget "I will never forget the day i delivered my first baby.. you just had to ...stick it in" I've got a new SIM card with the old number on it so my number hasn't changed. I'd really appreciate it if you'd text me your numbers :D I'm borrowing a friend's phone atm.
Casual Clothes Day
Thursday, April 24, 2008
Today was Casual Clothes Day and shave for a cure day, where people raise money to get their heads shaved for the leukemia foundation. I wore my grey top and grey jeans and Chloe's stripey blue and grey scarf. Gee I need to get myself some pretty scarfs. Anyway today I sat for my Chinese Oral SAC. Apparently, I went really well but I need to improve my pronunciation. Ahh.. Its good enough for me.. as long as i get an A+!!! hahaahaha... We had a study skills seminar today too.. It was not too bad. I think I'm going to get organised this weekend.. I might actually follow what the presenter says for once. Hmm.. Boys.. There's this guy in school who's really annoying the crap out of me. I was so mad that day I just felt like smacking him on the head with my spesh maths book! He keeps tapping my chair and humming to himself and he's taken over someone else's seat and is now officially sitting behind me. GAH I should totally swap seats next period. Oh and guess what. The methods test we had that day? apparently we have to resit the test because the results were between atrocious and shocking. One class had an average of 20 percent! Imagine that. Long weekend. No one's in.. whole bh to myself!

Update
My first update in what.. 3 weeks? haha Anyway, I've done two sections already. Its been pretty good. Of course I was nervous, didn't play well hence why I didn't get a good grade on it but I made a lot of new friends and they're pretty cool. I think with more performances/competitions, the less anxious I'll get when playing in front of people so its a good thing. I got to play on a fortepiano last weekend. For those of you who don't know what a formal is, Fortepiano There's this really famous fortepianist called Bart visiting CGS next week, and I'm to have a masterclass with him, and Glenn let me play on a fortepiano and it was liberating! I had so much fun, its true that you tend to go out of whack with your timing and stuff but that's how it works. While playing the second movement I didn't know why but i just did it.. i played freely and Glenn just stands up and goes AHA see! that was it! thats what fortepianists do! and he said i did it well too. Anyway, school. Methods test tomorrow and guess what . NOT PREPARED, why? because mr Hammond taught the entire chapter in two days, and one of the days i wasn't in class. Matt tutored me after school today but he is the hardest person to understand! Anyway, we just had founders day (yesterday in fact) and I reckon the song the choir sang : The Freedom Trilogy (starts with a greek chant Kyrie... and then an African Chant : Hallelujah! pelotsarona.. etc and then ending with amazing grace and then a combination of the three) just fyi, the guy who wrote amazing grace (John Newton) is a distant relative of our principal..i think or William Wilbrforce or sth.. i know one of the two is related to our principal. It was a great end to fouders day. Check out the song on youtube its awesome. Freedom Trilogy thats the link (i'm guessing it is it because we can't access youtube here and i found that on google..) If not try this Freedom Trilogy 2
Term 2 :(
Saturday, April 05, 2008
I really don't want to go back this term. I know its going to be a hard term.. i can feel it in my bones.. There will be the mid year exams... the piano competitions... the EXAM... sigh. Anyway, I just bought a 146GB hard disk. I was pretty excited, cause that would mean I could transfer all my music from my mac onto my pc. So I spend two hours of my precious last night selecting songs i want and dragging and dropping it onto the hard disk. I check it after I've done it all and guess what. It was empty. ....... ...... ...... ... . *panic mode* I check the permissions.... READ ONLY. AAAAAAAAARGH so i ask my friends what to do, they didnt really know so i went online to search for answers. Gave me a 1000 different ways to change it but due to my pc being vista and many other reasons, they all didn't work. Vista is crap. And then I ask Siah and Siah Tiong Shie consulted his brother Siah 2, and we tried the last resort, downloading this fink software which i think is designed to hack into your system and hopefully solve the problem. so i ran that command thing except now i forgot what it's called on macs.. anyway... it was 98% successful! (it was already 3.30am) . The LAST step didn't pass the test! omg now i'm really really really agitated. and then Siah asks if I have any comps with XP at home.. and I say no of course because we converted to macs ages ago but then............................. i realised **slaps face** that.... I DO HAVE AN XP... its that lousy old laptop my bro uses to play games with. So quickly, I turned it on and did what he told me to. AND IT WORKED! I was sooooo relieved. Anyway, that was my experience with stupid Hard Disks..... My arvo was really good, David and Carmen came to my place and we hung out for a bit before going for roti canai/homework session! David helped me correct my chinese a lot.. He called it "repairing" ..... *offended* lol jk.. thanks david!!! and then in the indian shop, we had a two hour discussion and homework help session on my Specialist Maths Chapter 5 Sequences and Series questions. They helped me understand sooooooo much, i'm really really confident now. and i copied all of david's notes hahahaha. Well I need motivation to do my english!!!!!!!! motivate me someone! I haven't finished my summary and essay.. BUT i have done my poem! :D I think its my best poem yet lol... here it is: So passionate were those there that day, The chilly winter’s breeze could not stand in their way. Like pilgrims to the holy land, Star struck, they watched their idols stand, Studs gracing the luscious greens, ready. Ready to eat, the group of three gathered at the park for a picnic, they were teasing each other. They called her xxxxxxx for her cheeks -they were round, She retorts the boys, her face in a frown, Completely unaware the taunts were a mask of love, affection. Affection was clearly present among the players, their minds set on victory they were waiting to savour, the whistle is blown, the clock starts ticking as both teams rush into each other bursting forth with enthusiasm and optimism, a common goal in mind, to win. To win her heart was the goal of each boy, Different tactics they tried, but still she kept coy about her feelings as she wasn’t in a good mood. The boys were best friends yet on separate sides they stood, Selfish thoughts tainting their minds as lust overruled friendship, time was running out. Time was running out as passes became faster, Tackles were coming in all directions, left right and centre. Yet disaster struck, red mist descended, A player dismissed, the referee - offended. Advantage to the other team, tension arose. Tension arose when her company she imposed upon only one, the other was left in sorrow, “xxxxx would you walk with me?” Was the question she directed, They left hand in hand, her head on his shoulder rested. The start of a new relationship and for another possibly, the end. The end. ^^ and here's my analysis: What I tried to do: I tried to create a poem that would show the similarities between a soccer match and the relationship between three friends, presented alternatively, i.e. situation A, situation B, situation A, situation B etc. The poem i in the form “A-A-B-B-C”, and the last word of each stanza is the first word of the next. This represents/shows that there is a connection between the two situations, which seem completely different yet show signs of similarities as the poem progresses, i.e. what goes on in situation A can be applied in situation B and vice versa in a metaphorical sense. I tried to create a “semi- open ending” with situation B, allowing the reader to make his/her own judgement on the course the boys’ friendship takes. Of course, since the situation A and B are parallel, one would automatically assume that with one boy “winning” the girl, the soccer match would also have to have ended with one team winning and not resulting in a draw.
